There are times where, in life, you can just be plain lucky. For one recent Russian truck driver, luck played a huge role in an accident that he could just walk away from – in fact, if you check out this video, you’ll see he had no option but to walk away.
When it comes to truck driving safety, there are one or two observations we can make from this video. The first is how lucky the driver was not to suffer serious head injury. Fortunately for him, his front windscreen popped out; otherwise he would have been thrown into it – he was obviously not wearing a seat belt. Once he was thrown out of the front window, he was lucky the truck’s momentum had been halted and that he wasn’t run over by his own truck.
Truck driving is a fairly safe career if you have good truck driving skills, drive sensibly, and follow the road rules. A break down in any one of those three key areas and you have the potential for a very serious accident, one that not only risks your own life, but the lives of many others.
To ensure truck drivers are safe, truck driver training schools like ours ensure that each student is well trained in driving skills, knowledge of the road rules, and the safety aspects of truck driving. The driver in the above video was lucky – that doesn’t mean you would be in a similar accident, especially if you were not wearing your seat belt.
